“Class of 2025, you will always be my first graduating class as president,” Notre Dame President Rev. Robert A. Dowd, C.S.C., said to much applause. “And, as such, you will always hold a special place in my heart.”

The University of Notre Dame celebrated its 180th Commencement Ceremony this month at Notre Dame Stadium, where 3,099 degrees were conferred. On May 17–18, nearly 20,000 members of the Notre Dame Family came together to mark this inspiring milestone with graduating students.
In addition to Admiral Christopher Grady, Vice Chairman and Acting Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, who delivered the principal address, audience members heard from Salutatorian Bennett Schmitt and Valedictorian Clare Cullinan.
Also honored was Kerry Alys Robinson, president and chief executive officer of Catholic Charities USA, the recipient of the 2025 Laetare Medal.
The financial aid made possible by those who give so generously to the University makes days like these possible for thousands of students each year. It is a blessing to celebrate the University’s graduating students alongside the Notre Dame Family that helped them get here.
