On April 11–12, we welcomed Sorin Society Founder’s-level and Gold-level members to the 2025 Sorin Scrimmage. Members had the opportunity to gather over the weekend for exclusive events featuring Notre Dame faculty and students before attending the Blue-Gold Game on Saturday.

We hosted a happy hour in the Oak Room at South Dining Hall on Friday evening, featuring remarks from Professor Nitesh Chawla, Frank M. Freimann Professor of Computer Science and Engineering and Director of the Lucy Family Institute for Data and Society. Dr. Chawla shared a few campus insights and discussed Notre Dame’s role as a leader in AI research. He then touched on the ethical considerations of the technology—an aspect that makes Notre Dame poised to maintain a prominent role in its development.

Saturday’s brunch in the Reading Room of the Jordan Hall of Science included a panel with two Sorin Society scholarship recipients, Amanda Lopez Boncenor ’28 and James Boumalhab ’25. Amanda talked about how Notre Dame felt like home from her very first visit, thanks in large part to the kindness of others. Originally from Puerto Rico, Amanda has found a community of care in Pasquerilla West.

James shared his Notre Dame journey and discussed how his classmates in Keough Hall welcomed him to their community through intentional conversation and camaraderie at their annual retreat. He shared that the Sorin Society Founder’s Mentorship Program has had a significant impact on his professional development, aiding in securing him a job in Chicago in nuclear energy after graduation.

Members then attended the Blue-Gold Game on a sunny Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium. We look forward to hosting members this fall for more Notre Dame Football events!
