Notre Dame Fund Annual Giving Impact Report 2022–2023

Catholic mission. An unsurpassed undergraduate education. A force for good.

The vision of Rev. Edward Sorin, C.S.C., to create a university that would be one of the most powerful means of doing good in the world, is rooted in these principles. In 2022–2023, Notre Dame Fund donors continued to ensure that students receive the distinct educational experience that only Notre Dame can offer.

Through gifts of all sizes, alumni, parents, students, and friends make a powerful difference in the lives of current students each year by donating to the Notre Dame Fund. The Notre Dame Family gave more than $4.98 million through the Notre Dame Fund in fiscal year 2022–2023.

Thanks to donors like you who give to vital annual giving programs across the University, Notre Dame can:

  • offer more scholarships to students
  • recruit and retain outstanding faculty
  • bolster emerging research
  • deliver new courses and other learning resources
  • provide support for athletics
  • allow university leaders to rapidly respond to critical and emerging priorities

On behalf of all of our students whose Notre Dame experience was further enhanced by your generosity, thank you! Notre Dame is a unique university, evidenced not only by the care and impact displayed by the Notre Dame Family, but also by how our students become future leaders who are forces for good in the world.

Ella Cate Hungeling ’24

To have the opportunity to attend the school that I grew up knowing and loving has been an incredible experience. I’ve grown, not only in my knowledge of the world and its challenges as a Political Science and Global Affairs major but also in compassion for those in need. My classes, clubs, Summer Service Learning Project, and multiple nonprofit internships have all taught me how to accompany others through life’s obstacles, both innovatively and empathetically. These experiences were all crafted by Notre Dame, its mission, and its community, and I am so grateful that I’ve always had the support needed to fulfill my desire to do good for the world. Working on Notre Dame Day, I saw firsthand how much of the student experience is made possible by the greater Notre Dame community. It’s a special place, for sure, but the community that surrounds and supports this school is what has consistently made Notre Dame so special to me. Thank you for being a part of that community!

Making Notre Dame a Reality

More than 70% of Notre Dame students receive some form of financial aid. The median aid package to meet need-based aid is $55,100. Annual giving donors make Notre Dame a reality for students like Ella Cate.

An Experience Unlike Any Other

When students can experience life outside of the classroom, remarkable moments of self-discovery are made. Whether a student is learning to lead through hall council, taking their first service trip through the Center for Social Concerns, attending mass at the Basilica, or spending the summer doing undergraduate research, your generous commitment ensures they are learning to be a force for good in all that they do.

The Gift of Notre Dame

Whether a student is first-generation, a returning legacy, or suddenly experiences an unexpected financial change, your annual gift through the Notre Dame Fund allows the University to rapidly respond and keep the best and brightest enrolled and thriving at Notre Dame. Thank you for giving the gift of Notre Dame.

Garrett Gray, ‘96, ND Loyal Volunteer

My involvement with ND Loyal stems from my desire to make a positive difference in the Notre Dame community, especially in the lives of students. I have made new friends and reconnected with old ones through my active involvement with ND Loyal. It has been great to be able to inspire others to give back to this great University we all love!
