Rockne powers student-athletes into Olympics

Author: Michelle McDaniel

Notre Dame will be well-represented at the Olympics in Paris this year, with 17 current and former student-athletes competing. In swimming, fencing, rowing, women’s basketball, soccer, and track and field, the Fighting Irish are ready to fight to bring home the gold.

Notre Dame student-athletes are built different—and whether they’re representing the Fighting Irish, the United States, or their home country, these men and women are transformed by their time at Notre Dame. Gifts to the Rockne Athletics Fund help power Notre Dame student-athletes with the resources they need to go toe-to-toe with and be the best athletes in the world.

Our Notre Dame Olympians will return home with their heads held high when the Olympic flame is extinguished. These men and women have competed with grit, tenacity, and passion; we are proud to call them the Fighting Irish.

We also want to recognize a few of the Fighting Irish coaches who make this possible for our student-athletes: Chris Lindauer will coach USA men’s swimming, Salima Rockwell will work as an indoor volleyball analyst, and Cedric Loiseau will coach USA fencing.
