Sorin Society inspires Catholic mission at Notre Dame

Author: Michelle McDaniel

Notre Dame is committed to the Catholic character of the University, transforming each student in mind, body, and spirit. Students have access to a variety of religious retreats and daily Mass services. Additionally, with numerous service opportunities and trips offered through campus groups, more than 80% of students engage in volunteer work before they graduate.

The Sorin Society dedicates a portion of its funds to ensuring students have access to the resources and spaces they need to grow spiritually.

40+ Sunday Masses each week 160+ daily Masses each week
60+ chapels on campus, including one in every residence hall 80%+ of students participate in service before graduation

Jacob Koestner ’24 chose Notre Dame because of its mission to be a force for good in the world and its commitment to integrating faith and academics. He attributes his conversion to Catholicism to the friends he made in Alumni Hall. His friends, rooted in their faith, demonstrated their deep love of faith by inviting him into the greater Catholic family.

“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the donors who helped make Notre Dame possible for me. A Notre Dame education has been the greatest gift to my life, transformed me as a person, and made me so much better. Thank you, Sorin Society, for giving me the gift of Notre Dame, allowing me to study everything I love, for giving me friendships that will last a lifetime, and for allowing me to discover who I am in my faith.” — Jacob Koestner ’24
