Catholic Mission & Service
At the core of Notre Dame's mission is a defining Catholicism that guides our search for truth and inspires students, faculty, and alumni to lead lives of faith, meaning, and service.
Faith informs everything we do.
Notre Dame is committed to serving those in need, a mission that includes traditional volunteer efforts as well as innovative service-learning programs and research geared toward improving the lives of others. A gift to Catholic Mission and Service makes possible these and many other aspects of Notre Dame's Catholic character:
- Campus Ministry offers more than 40 retreats that serve nearly 3,000 students each year.
- The McGrath Institute for Church Life (ICL) provides the spectrum of Church leaders with training and service opportunities as well as with resources for spiritual and personal growth.
- More than 80% of students participate in service projects while on campus, and at least 10% of each graduating class devotes one or two years to service work after graduation.
Join the Sorin Society
The Sorin Society is a group of alumni, parents, and friends who provide Notre Dame with annual contributions that have a huge impact on all areas of the University while receiving access to many exclusive experiences on campus and around the world.
Sorin membership is a great way to stay close to the faith life of Notre Dame while having a financial impact on the University's Catholic mission.
